When it comes to doing special things for yourself, do you consistently fall short?
If you fall short, I get it. People depend on you, and you’ve got responsibilities to show up regularly, and there’s not a lot of spare time at the end of the day.
I know because I've BEEN THERE!
Sometimes I am there, again.
Putting YOU first on the list occasionally is essential because if you don't carve out time to replenish yourself, you’ll get depleted and run out of steam, and there won’t be anything left to give.
I know because I've tried running on empty, and all that happens is you start falling short, and nobody's very happy. I've learned that the hard way.
You can’t pour from an empty cup. And it's up to you to make sure yours keeps getting refilled.
The truth is life is always going to be busy. It’s never going to slow down so that you can nurture yourself. You have to schedule a cup-filling time and take it.
And, it's not simply doing the thing that refills your cup. . .
It's you creating a bit of sacred time for feeding your soul and acknowledging the specialness of it, and then relishing in and celebrating the moment!
Here are six simple and doable ideas for nurturing yourself.
PAMPER YOURSELF
Get a massage, and or a mani and pedi, and or a facial. Soak in a leisurely bath. Make it extra enjoyable and therapeutic by adding a mix of ¼ cup Epsom salts and 10-15 drops essential oils (try 3 drops Balance, 7 drops Douglas Fir, 7 drops Bergamot, and 2 drops Wild Orange).
ENJOY SOME FRIVOLOUS DOWNTIME
Watch a movie, read a book, listen to music. Do whatever helps you unwind and makes your heart feel rejuvenated and happy.
GO SHOPPING
Buy something special just for you. Splurge on something fun that you’ve been wanting. Or sign up for a course or class you’ve been thinking about.
THROW YOURSELF A DINNER PARTY
Make a meal that thrills you and eat on your prettiest dishes. Include flowers, a candle and music. Or go to your favorite restaurant and order your favorite meal. Soak in the atmosphere and eat slowly. Savor each bite.
BASK IN NATURE
Get outside and go for a walk or a run. Go to a beautiful place and simply soak in the magnificence of nature. Position yourself to enjoy the beauty of a sunrise or sunset etc.
TAKE A TIME OUT
Meditate. Take a nap. Go to bed early. Journal. Do yoga. Make yourself a chai tea latte. Slather yourself in oils, or anoint yourself with them. Do whatever it takes to recharge yourself and leave you feeling refreshed and restored.
Keep your cup full by taking time on a regular basis to love yourself up. Celebrate the magnificence of you and cherish yourself more. Remind yourself to create an air of specialness in the little things you do for yourself.
YOU are totally worth it!
