CHAI TEA LATTE

I love chai tea. But I’m not crazy about the sugar in it, or the price of it, and I want to be able to make it at home. So, I figured out how to make a healthier version of it at home. I love this chai tea because it’s full bodied yet not too intense or sweet. It's an Indian Chai flavor, which I think is more exotic. Here’s the recipe and everyone who’s tried it thinks I’ve nailed it:

CHAI SPICE MIX

1 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. black cardamom (not green)
1/4 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. black pepper
3 TBS cinnamon
3 generous cups coconut sugar

Combine well and store in an airtight glass jar (I used freshly ground spices to make the flavors burst).

CHAI TEA LATTE
About 1 ½ cups boiling water
6 tea bags – can use black but I like Stash decaffeinated hazelnut chocolate
About 3 cups hot almond milk
3 heaping Tablespoons chai spice mix, or more to taste

Steep tea bags in boiling water for five minutes (I use the Teavana tea maker).
Strain the tea into a blender (I have a BlendTec) and add hot milk and chai spice mix.
Blend till frothy and pour into mugs and serve.

Enjoy, and if you try this recipe I'd love to know what you think!
